Xstrata Coal's best-practice dust management employed at open cut coal mines in the Hunter Valley region of New South Wales has now been extended to equipment operator training thanks to state-of-the-art training simulators from Immersive Technologies.
Immersive Technologies has advanced its strategy to support the mining industry in reducing operational risk and skills shortages. This has been achieved via the release of the Cat 795F AC Mining Truck Conversion Kit® for the industry-leading, Immersive Technologies' open-cut simulators, including the PRO3. ResCo Service's new indigenous trainee simulator program saw its first 10 students graduate in May 2012. The graduates now have the opportunity to continue into ResCo's Certificate II in a surface extraction operation traineeship or seek direct employment in the mining industry.

Syncrude's Mildred Lake and Aurora mining sites received the Immersive Technologies' 2011 Business Improvement Award for outstanding results with its simulator-based operator training program. Syncrude used its simulator-based operator training program to reduce production loss, improve equipment availability and advance operator safety initiatives. The Canadian oil sands company now has the ability to measure effectiveness of its training curriculum and program. Syncrude was chosen as the 2011 recipient of this award from more than 200 Immersive Technologies' mining customer locations in 30 countries.
Rio Tinto has purchased three additional Immersive Technologies PRO3 Advanced Equipment Simulators for their Marandoo, Hope Downs 4 and Greater Brockman Iron Ore operations. These simulators join the three existing Immersive simulators in their fleet.
African based MCC Contracts have released details of its improved operator training programs which integrate advanced simulator training technology from leading global supplier Immersive Technologies as a key method of safely training, assessing and measuring performance.
